Packet Free Lunch starting Tuesday 8th March!
Malfroy School is introducing PACKET-FREE-LUNCHES one day per week.
When: Every Tuesday during Term 1, starting on Tuesday 8th March.
How: On Tuesdays, send your child to school without packets in their lunch box.
Why: Individually packaged foods create lots of rubbish, fill up our landfills and damage our environment. They can also be quite expensive. Food that comes in individually-wrapped packets is often less healthy than food that doesn’t come in a packet (fruit, veggies, sandwiches etc.). Eating healthy food at lunch time is linked to better academic performance and better health.
Ideas for a Packet-free Lunchbox:
Use a few small containers to put snacks in. Peanuts instead of chip packets. Carrot sticks make a healthy snack that many children enjoy. Try other veggies like cucumber and capsicum while they are in season and cheap. Sandwiches with yummy fillings egg and veggies, or peanut butter. Home-made muesli slice instead of muesli bars. Crackers and cheese instead of le snacks. Send your child along with their re-fillable water bottle and leave the sweet drinks out this day.
